Significance: One of the most important Buddhist sites in China. There are 53 monasteries here, many that are still operating. Many Buddhists make a pilgrimage to Mount Wutai in their lifetimes. The first temples were built here in the 1st century CE.Website: UNESCO World Heritage Site
