Weather: Mostly Sunny, 64/85F
Route: From Chicago 323 miles NNW on I-94 E, I-196 N, US-131 N, M-113 W.
Population: 15,651 (2018)
Nickname: The Cherry Capital of the World
Significance: Most of the year Michiganders (my home state) dream of traveling somewhere warm - but for a few months each year, when the weather turns hot and humid, we long to be "up north." Traverse City is the capital of "up north" - however most people go to smaller towns or resorts like Sleeping Bear Dunes near Empire or a concert at Interlochen or golf at the Jack Nicklaus designed course "The Bear."
