Population: 3,047Significance: Patmos is best known as the home of the monastery of St. John the Theologian. It is thought to be the place where St. John the disciple wrote his Gospel and the Book of Revelation and therefore has been a place of pilgrimage, especially in the Greek Orthodox Church.
