Rock-Hewn Churches of Ivanovo, Bulgaria - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Ivanovo, Bulgaria

Route: From Sofia 296 km on ENE Route 3.

Significance: Starting in the 12th century hundreds of churches were hand cut into the limestone cliffs. In the 14th centuries murals painted by artists from Tarnovo School of painting.
