Significance: The Great Barrier Reef is the largest example in the world of a coral reef, which is one of the most fragile environments. Climate change is appearing to impact coral reefs more quickly than any other habitat.  There are over 400 types of coral and 1,500 species of fish in the Great Barrier Reef.
