Olympic National Park - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Place: Olympic National Park, Washington
Weather: Partly cloudy skies, 52/66F
Route: From Seattle 82 miles WNW on ferry to Bainbridge Island, WA-3 N, WA-104 W, US-101 N.
Significance: I have always thought of Olympic as mostly a rainforest - and while it is the most intact and protected rainforest habitats in the Pacific Northwest - there are also rocky peaks and the longest undeveloped coastline in the contiguous United States.  Wildlife includes the endangered northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet. There are 10 major rivers and the Pacific Ocean - which means there are lots of kinds of fish - including the healthiest run of Salmon outside of Alaska.
