Cultural Landscape of Lope-Okanda, Gabon - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Route: From Kinshasa 887 km NNW on N3.

Significance: The UNESCO "Cultural Landscapes" are some of the more interesting world heritage sites, as they contain both the natural environment and the human interaction with that environment. Lope-Okanda is one of the most unique of these landscapes as there has been over 400,000 years of human history in this area. There are examples of ancient rock art.  There is also well conserved forests and habitat for endangered large animals.
