Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, Nigeria - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, Nigeria

Weather: Partly cloudy, 73/102F.

Route: From Yaounde 1,285 km NW on N3.

Significance: The Yoruba people used to have sacred groves outside of all of their towns. This grove outside Osogbo is one of the last remaining groves. The grove is used as a religious center where regular worship takes place, it is also where herbal medicines are grown. Since the grove is one of the last remaining it has taken on importance as a "symbol of identity" for all Yoruba people living in Nigeria and all over the world.
