Wachau Cultural Landscape, Austria - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Wachau Cultural Landscape, Austria

Route: From Vienna 86km west on A1.

Significance: The Danube between Krems and Melk is beautiful and has many examples of architecture from the middle ages to the 19th century.  The hillsides are also filled with wineries - some that go back to Roman times.
