Significance: The Mahabodhi Temple Complex is the place where the Gautama Buddha was said to have attained enlightenment in the 6th century BC.  The first temple here was built in the 3rd century BC. The Bodhi tree here is thought to the the 4th tree that is a direct descendent of the original tree.
