Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka, India - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Route: From Ajanta Caves 439 km NE on MPSH 15.

Significance: The rock shelters of Bhimbetka have cave paintings from as long as 10,000 years ago.  The paintings continued to be a tradition of the local people up until quite recently. The paintings represent similar themes to those found all over the world from the same period - such as animals, people dancing, and the hunt.
