Carlsbad Caverns National Park, NM - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Carlsbad Caverns National Park, NM

Route: From San Antonio 462 miles WNW on I-10 W, US-285 N.

Significance: There are more than 100 limestone caves within the park - each with a variety of rock formations. There are 18 feet long "chandeliers" and huge rooms reminiscent of cathedrals.
