Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur, Bangladesh - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur, Bangladesh

Significance: Starting in the 7th century this monastery was an important place for Mahayana Buddhism. It was active until the 12th century. Today only ruins remain.
