My Son Sanctuary, Vietnam - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: My Son Sanctuary, Vietnam

Weather: Sunshine and clouds mixed, 70/82F.

Route: From Vat Phou 428 km ENE on Route 16.

Significance: This area was the spiritual and political capital of the Champa Kingdom that flourished from the 4th to 13th centuries. They practiced Hinduism, which came here from trading with India. This area was heavily bombed by the Americans during the Vietnam war, which destroyed many of the largest of the hundreds of towers found on the site.
