Hwaseong Fortress, South Korea - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Hwaseong Fortress, South Korea

Weather: Partly cloudy, 49/73F.

Route: From Namhansanseong Fortress 35 km south on Yongin Seoul Express.

Significance: After his father was killed in the late 18th century, King Jeongjo attempted to move the capital south to Suwon. The capital never actually made the move because the King died soon after it was finished. What remains is his father's grave and massive defensive works.
