Chiloe Archipelago, Chile - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Chiloe Archipelago, Chile

Weather: Partly to mostly cloudy, 43/59F.

Route: From Santiago 1,200 km south on Ruta 5.

Significance: UNESCO recognized this region for its unique wooden churches. The climate here is similar to the northwestern U.S. The first Jesuits came here in 1608 - later Franciscans came in the 18th and 19th centuries.
