Gebel Barkal, Sudan - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Gebel Barkal, Sudan

Route: From Abu Simbel 1,204 km south on A1.

Significance: Gebel Barkal is a mountain said to be the birthplace of the Egyptian God Amon. This was the center of the Kush Kingdom, which was at its height in 1,000-900 BC - at which time they ruled all of Egypt.
