Memphis and Pyramids of Giza, Egypt - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Memphis and Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

Weather: Sunny skies, 48/68F.

Route: From Cairo 31 km south on Nile Corniche.

Significance: Capital of the Old Kingdom that flourished initially over 5000 years ago.  The nearby pyramids are some of the oldest and yet most grand symbols of human civilization.  There is no place in the world that can lay claim to a similar level of importance and power that were sustained from here for such a long period of time.
