Poverty Point Monumental Earthworks

Peak Time Period: 3100-3700 years ago
Significance: It is the most extensive monumental earthworks built by hunter-gatherers in North America that still exists.  No earthworks would eclipse it for 2000 years, and then they were built by farming societies.
