Carcassone, France - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Place: Carcassone, France

Route: From Montpellier 149 km WSW on A9 and A61.

Population: 46,513

Significance: A town has been on this hill since 3500 BC. The town currently looks as it would have during the medieval time period. It was restored to its current state from near ruins in the 19th century.
