Calakmul, Mexico - UNESCO World Heritage Site

 Place: Calakmul, Mexico

Weather: Cloudy early with thunderstorms developing later in the day, 72/90F.

Route: From Sian Ka'an 301 km SSW on 307, 186.

Significance: Calakmul wasn't discovered until the 1930 - and there is still much to be learned. But we do know that it was one of the most important city states of the Maya. It was a major city for 1200 years - longer than most city states.
